Lunch wtih an Engineer

Students at Edgecombe Early College High School recently participated in the inspiring “Lunch with an Engineer” event, where they had the chance to meet and engage with engineers from various fields employed within the local community.

The event provided students with a valuable opportunity to learn about different types of engineering, explore the wide range of career opportunities available, and ask questions directly to professionals in the field. With the insights gained, students can better evaluate whether engineering is a career path they want to pursue.

Sponsored by STEP and facilitated by Kevin Roberts, the event brought together eight engineers, including two EECHS alumni, from notable organizations such as ABB, Barnhill Contracting Company, LS Cable, Cummins, Hitachi Astemo, the City of Rocky Mount, and Pfizer. The presence of EECHS graduates served as a powerful reminder of the success and potential awaiting current students.

This impactful event was made possible thanks to the hard work of Mrs. Kathy Webb and Mr. Gerald Williams, whose dedication ensured a meaningful and well-organized experience for all involved.

Edgecombe Early College High School extends its gratitude to everyone who contributed to this event, which has sparked curiosity and inspiration among its students, helping them take one step closer to shaping their futures in engineering and beyond.
