🌎 Learning in Action! 🌱 We were thrilled to welcome the Edgecombe County Soil and Water Conservation Office for the final session of our Soil and Water Education Series in our Earth and Environmental Sciences classes! Our students explored how soil acts as a natural filter and learned about some of the common pollutants affecting soil right here in Edgecombe County. These lessons connect science to real-world environmental challenges, empowering our scholars to think critically about sustainability and conservation. A special thank you to Jenna Russell for her time, expertise, and dedication to teaching our students these valuable and relevant lessons. 🌟 We also want to thank Ms. White and Mr. Starrad for organizing this educational experience and making it all possible.

🌟 Student Spotlight: Yuri Diaz Diego 🌟 We are so proud to recognize Yuri Diaz Diego, a senior at Edgecombe Early College High School, for her outstanding participation in the North Carolina Governor's Page Program! Through this prestigious program, Yuri gained invaluable experience and insight into state government operations. 🙌 Because of her dedication and involvement, Yuri was invited to a special gathering last night where she had the incredible opportunity to meet our current North Carolina Governor, Roy Cooper. 👏✨ Congratulations, Yuri, on this amazing accomplishment! Your hard work and ambition continue to make EECHS proud. 💙

📢 Attention EECHS Families! 📢 Edgecombe Early College High School (EECHS) and Edgecombe Community College (ECC) will both be closed on Monday, November 11, in observance of Veterans Day. We pause to honor and thank all veterans for their service and sacrifice. 🇺🇸 Your commitment and courage have helped secure our freedoms, and we are deeply grateful. 🌟 Congratulations to Our November Star Students! 🌟 We are thrilled to recognize Madison Beltran and Maya Roberts as our November Star Students! These outstanding students were nominated by their teachers for their exceptional character and dedication. Thank you, Madison and Maya, for being shining examples for your peers! We also celebrated our Star Teacher, Mrs. Sheri Hayes, our dedicated school counselor, whose support and guidance make a difference every day. Our Scholar Teachers had an amazing time visiting North Carolina A&T State University on Friday for Aggie Educators Day! 💙💛 The day was packed with learning and inspiration! 📚 They explored the College of Education and learned about A&T’s programs for future educators. 🔬 They took part in a hands-on STEM lesson, where they made circuits to light up cards! 🚶‍♀️ They enjoyed a guided campus tour and got a real feel for Aggie life. 🍽️ And of course, they shared lunch in the Student Center! 📚 Huge thanks to Sarita Broadway from CFNC for visiting us on Monday, October 28! 🎉 She spoke to our entire Super Senior class and their families, sharing invaluable information about financial aid, FAFSA, and paying for college 💸💡. We’re so grateful for Mrs. Broadways's expertise and the way she’s empowering our future college students with the tools and confidence they need to succeed 🎓✨. Thank you, for helping our students get one step closer to their dreams! 👏💙

🌟 The Scholar Teachers had an exciting day at the College of Education on Tuesday! 🎓 They received a tour of the Teacher Resource Center at Joyner Library, where they explored teaching technology and text resources available to all educators in Eastern NC. 📚 🎨 In the hands-on workroom, they learned to use fun tools like the button maker and die-cut machine for creating classroom posters and projects! ✂️✨ They also enjoyed a campus tour led by a College of Education student, who shared insights about the teaching program, life on campus 🏫, and the learning community and honors dorm. 🏠💬 🍽️ After lunch at the Student Center, they wrapped up the day with an inspiring talk from Dr. Catrina Davis, who shared information about COE programs, degrees, and scholarship opportunities. 🎓💼 It was an informative and fun-filled day for our future educators! 💡💛

📢 Reminder: EECHS Planning Day - October 25 📢 Just a heads up, families! October 25 is our EECHS Planning Day—a day for staff to focus on preparing for upcoming initiatives and student success. However, please note that college classes will meet as scheduled. Students should plan accordingly to attend their college classes on this day. 🌍 The Edgecombe County Soil and Water Conservation Office visited EECHS for the second time yesterday! Our Earth Science scholars explored how runoff and groundwater infiltration work using hands-on modeling 🌧️💧. A huge thank you to Jenna Russell for giving our students such an amazing and interactive learning experience! 🙏✨

✨ Freshmen in Ms. Braswell's English I class made powerful connections between Anthem by Ayn Rand and electricity! ⚡️ Her scholars got hands-on experience with Equality 7-2521’s struggles as they built circuits and tried to light up bulbs. 💡 What an awesome way to bring STEM into the classroom! 🙌

🎉 Students from both Edgecombe Early College and Edge Academy Of Health Sciences had an incredible experience at 'A Day with Healthcare Professionals'! 🎉 🙌 A huge thank you to Michael Mosley, Career Coach at The Edge Academy, for organizing this impactful event and inviting our students to join. We're also so grateful to the healthcare professionals who generously donated their time to meet with our scholars. 💼✨ The students walked away with valuable insights, connections, and exciting opportunities for future internships and mentorships! 👏🔗

College classes will resume on Tuesday, October 15th. Please note: High school classes will follow their regular schedule on both Friday and Monday, with no changes. Last weekend, our National Honor Society held their first roadside clean-up of the year, led by adviser Chris Coggins and President Tristan Revis. It was a beautiful day, and we were thrilled to have a special guest join us—our former NHS President, "Madame President" Ka'Viya White! 🌿🚮 Thank you to everyone who came out to make our community cleaner and brighter. Together, we’re making a difference! 💚✨

Congratulations to Avery Wittig for her outstanding achievement in the At Large Distinguished Young Women Scholarship program! 🎉 Her impressive performance has earned her enough points to progress to and compete in the NC State DYW program in Greensboro. She has been named the Distinguished Young Woman of Edgecombe County. Way to go, Avery! Your EECHS Family will be cheering for you in January! 🌟

🎉 Celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month at EECHS! 🎉 The EECHS family came together yesterday at our October Town Meeting to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month! 🇲🇽🎶 Under the amazing leadership of Mrs. Manley and the student-led Hispanic Heritage Month Planning Committee, we immersed ourselves in the rich Hispanic culture through legends, dance, and music. 💃🕺 The highlights of the celebration were the student performances and a student film on the legend of La Llorona, showcasing the incredible talent of our students and bringing this captivating story to life! 🎥👻 We were also inspired by a powerful message from Ms. Elizabeth Hererra from Casa Azul de Wilson. 🙌 We wrapped up the event with delicious food catered by El Patron of Tarboro and enjoyed great fellowship. 🌮🍽️❤️ A huge thank you to everyone who helped make this celebration a success! 👏✨ Check out our Facebook page for more photos and to see the student film La Llorona.
